Education & Schools

The local school system includes two public elementary schools and a public secondary school in the Listowel Ward, one public elementary and one private elementary school in the Wallace ward, and one public elementary school in the Elma ward. Two universities and a community college are close by in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Adult Education

Adult Education programs are offered by the Avon Maitland District School Board at the Listowel District Secondary School. The Upper Grand District School Board offers adult training and general interest programs at the Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerston.

Community Colleges & Universities

• Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology

           Conestoga has risen to become one of Canada's premier polytechnic institutes. It offers

           advanced applied education, and research leading to the commercialization of                     innovation in Southwestern Ontario.

• University of Waterloo

  The University of Waterloo offers part-time student programs through correspondence. Three hundred courses in Arts, Environment Studies, Mathematics, or Science are available three terms a year and can be taken on or off campus. Waterloo is a 35-minute drive from Listowel.

• Wilfred Laurier University

  Wilfred Laurier University also offers part-time studies and programs, in the form of evening lectures on campus, correspondence courses and telecollege (local TV - Kitchener, or videotapes).

• University of Guelph

  University of Guelph offers part-time student programs through distance education, in the form of web-based programs, evening lectures on campus and correspondence courses. The University of Guelph is an approximate 45-minute drive from Listowel.
