North Perth implements land exchange with Terra Park Ltd.

Posted on Tuesday December 19, 2017

At the North Perth Council Meeting on December 18, 2017, North Perth Council approved a Land Exchange Agreement between the Municipality and Terra Park Developments Ltd.

Through the Agreement, Terra Park’s property located on the corner of Bright St. and Nichol Ave. S. and adjacent to the Park Meadow Place cul-de-sac in Listowel will be under the ownership of North Perth, in exchange for a portion of the Municipality’s vacant land beside the Perth Meadows Suites Apartment facility on Nelson Ave. S. The Agreement is conditional and should be finalized in late February 2018.

Terra Park is proposing to develop a Retirement Residence with assisted living and amenity support services geared to life enrichment of the residents on 64,600 sq. ft. of land on the south end of the property neighbouring the Perth Meadows apartments.

The proposed retirement residence will complement and support the continuum of care campus model that was the original objective of the Perth Meadows development. The Perth Meadows community is currently comprised of 18 townhomes and 36 life lease apartments, plus civil infrastructure, paved roads/sidewalks, and landscaping. With the addition of Terra Park’s retirement facility, the campus will provide services and support for older residents who are able to live independently, require assisted living, or care that is more specialized.

Further, this location is in close walking and driving proximity to many community amenities benefiting older adults, including groceries, pharmacy, and the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex.

The Council of the Municipality of North Perth believes a wide range of services is necessary to provide a sustainable community for its citizens. A diverse array of housing options for older adults is important to the health of North Perth’s senior population and overall community wellbeing.
