Building Permits

The Ontario Building Code is a Provincial regulation that is administered by the Building Department of the Municipality of North Perth. The code pertains to the structural, health and fire safety of buildings and ensures construction of buildings to a specific minimum standard.

Building permits are required for the construction of new buildings or structures, building additions, swimming pools, decks, erection of signs, and for most building or structural alterations. If you have any question as to whether a permit is required, please contact the Municipality of North Perth Building Department during regular office hours.

Building Permit application can be obtained at the Municipality of North Perth Municipal office during regular hours. Applications are reviewed on a first in, first served basis, and issued according to Section 2.4 of the Ontario Building Code. Building permit fees vary depending on the type of building or structure being constructed. Please contact the Municipality of North Perth Building Department for information on detailed permit fees. Development Charges may also apply.

Building inspections can be arranged by contacting the Municipality of North Perth Building Department during regular office hours. We request that 24-hour notice be given to arrange these inspections. When calling please provide the building permit number or property owner and location for the job that you would like inspected.
