Borrow a Mobile Wifi Hotspot

Mobile WiFi Hotspots are available to borrow from the North Perth Public Library. These Hotspots offer internet connectivity to Wi-Fi-enabled devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.) through the Bell cellular network. The Hotspots are intended for light internet usage (streaming not advised).

The Hotspots are portable and can travel with you, whether you’re in a car, at home, or at the park! In just a few steps, you can access the internet wherever you are.

Place a Hold WiFi Hotspot Instructions

How to borrow:

Before placing a hold or borrowing a Mobile WiFi Hotspot, please read our Terms and Conditions (below) and the North Perth Public Library Acceptable Internet Use Policy (OP-06). By borrowing a Hotspot you agree to these terms.

If you have any questions about this program, please contact the North Perth Public Library by phone 519-291-4621 or by email.

Terms and Conditions

 Who can borrow?

Mobile Wifi Hotspots are available to North Perth Public Library cardholders age 18+. Library account must be in good standing.

One hotspot per customer at a time.

 Where can I use it?

Service is available anywhere in Canada within the Bell cellular network coverage area. We cannot guarantee connectivity. Service is dependant on the availability of the cellular network where the Hotspot is being used.

Hotspots are mobile and do not need to remain in one spot during use, if charged.

How do I borrow a Hotspot?

Visit any North Perth Public Library branch and speak to a staff member at the circulation desk. You can place a hold on a WiFi Hotspot from our Online Catalogue, or ask a staff member to do so for you.

WiFi Hotspots can be borrowed for up to one week (7 days) at a time and cannot be renewed.

Hotspots must be picked up within 5 days of Hold notification.

How do I return a Hotspot?

WiFi Hotspots must be returned to the North Perth Public Library during operating hours and returned directly to a staff member, who will ensure all device pieces have been returned in good condition. Device will be tested before item is checked in.

Call your branch to arrange a drop-off time. Return to Library Branch it was borrowed from (Atwood/Listowel/Monkton).

Do not return in book drop.

 Overdue and Replacement Fees
The overdue fine for WiFi Hotspots is $1/day. If the device becomes overdue, the library will disable it until it is returned.

The replacement fee for WiFi Hotspots is $200 for a lost or damaged device; $15 for a lost or damaged cord or case; and a $5 processing fee in addition to the replacement cost for any lost or damaged items.
 Care of the Hotspot
Keep Hotspot in temperature controlled environment (do not leave in car).

In order to keep the WiFi Hotspots available to the public as often as possible, the library cannot ensure that they are fully charged upon check out. It is the responsibility of the customer to charge the WiFi Hotspot for their own use: Use the power cable included; plug into device and plug into a wall electrical socket. You may also leave it plugged in during use.
 Privacy
All users must abide by the Acceptable Internet Use policy and understand there is no guarantee the hotspot WiFi connection will be entirely private.
