We provide municipal water and wastewater services to residents in Listowel, Atwood, Gowanstown, and Molesworth. As a property owner, you are responsible for maintaining the water and sewer lines from the street to inside your home.  

If you are doing work inside your home and need the water to be shut off, please contact the Public Works Department at 519-292-2067. 

For after-hours water emergencies, please call our answering service 519-291-2940.

Sign up for eBilling

Go paperless – sign up to receive a digital version of your water bill directly to your email address. Once you sign up, you will no longer receive a paper copy in the mail. All future invoices will be sent directly to your email.

To sign up for eBilling, fill out the online form.

Please remember:

  • You are responsible to resubmit the online form if there is a change in email address.
  • Failure to receive an invoice does not excuse you from payment and any applicable interest.
  • If you do not receive your invoice, please check your junk mail folder and add us to your safe list.

How to pay your water bill?

We offer a number of payment options. Payments must be received by the due date to avoid penalty.

Please note: A $10.00 transfer fee will be applied to any payments made to incorrect accounts.

Pre-authorized payment plans

We offer pre-authorized payment plans for water bills. The amount due is automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the due date.

Please complete our pre-authorized debit agreement form to sign up.

Electronic payments

Telephone or internet payments can be made through most financial institutions. Select “North Perth Water/Sewer” as the payee. Your customer/account number will be the account number on your bill excluding the first zero. For example, if your customer number on your bill is 0123456789, then your account number to pay your bill is 123456789.

Credit card payments

We are now accepting payments by credit card for water bills. The button below will take you to the eCommerce page where you may register for this service and make a payment. A convenience charge per transaction will apply as this service is administered through a third party. Please ensure you are using your correct water account number when making your payment. A $10 transfer fee will apply to payments that are made to incorrect accounts.

Payments can be made at most local financial institutions.

How do I set up a new water account?

If you are on municipal water or sewer, please contact the Utilities Financial Assistant at 519-292-2046 or complete the online form to set up your account. 

We will need your:

  • property address
  • legal closing date
  • name(s) that will appear on the bill
  • lawyer's name and telephone number
  • telephone number where we can contact you

What should I do if I sold my house?

You need to contact us before you move to request a final meter reading on the closing date. This ensures that the account is transferred to the new owners and they are billed for the water they use. Your final bill will be mailed to your forwarding address and includes consumption from your last regular reading date to the final reading date.

We need will need your:

  • property address or account number
  • legal closing date
  • your lawyer's name and telephone number
  • the purchaser's name
  • a forwarding address to send your final bill

How do I update my mailing address?

If your mailing address has changed, please contact the Utilities Financial Assistant at 519-292-2046 or complete the online form.

How can I track my water usage?

Reading your water meter regularly can help detect if you have a leak. First, you will need to locate the water meter inside your home. The water meter is usually located in your basement mechanical room or crawl space. Determine the type of meter installed in your house:

  • ProRead water meter
  • Ecoder water meter

Once you determine the type of water meter installed in your home, take a reading at a set time of day. Take a second reading at the same time the following day. Your daily consumption is the second reading less the first reading. Tracking your water usage will help you find any spikes in water usage and help find leaks.

Why is my water bill higher than usual?

Your water bill is likely higher due to an increase in water usage. Your water usage may increase for many reasons:

  • More people living in your household
  • Running or leaking toilet
  • Running or dripping tap
  • Seasonal usage –washing your car or boat, filling your pool, or watering your garden
  • Outdoor hose left on
  • Water cooled air conditioning
  • Leaky plumbing
  • Water softeners
  • Leaky lawn sprinkler system
  • Construction work
  • Change of property use

Water arrears certificates

Water arrears certificates are available from the Municipality of North Perth upon written request for a fee of $20.00 per certificate.
