Fire Departments in Perth County, Stratford and St. Marys announce agreement with GFL Environmental

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fire Departments in Perth County, Stratford and St. Marys have entered into a contract agreement with GFL Environmental for the provision of emergency and hazardous material response and/or clean-up services. A joint Request for Proposal (RFP) was developed by the following municipalities:

-        Township of Perth South
-        Town of St. Marys
-        Municipality of North Perth
-        City of Stratford
-        Municipality of West Perth
-        Township of Perth East

This agreement will benefit the municipalities by providing support and complementing the work of the fire departments.  The agreement was a collaborative effort to meet the requirements of the Provincial Mutual Aid Agreement to provide Hazardous materials response and/or clean up services. 

Establishing a vendor of choice will provide a contingency plan in the event of a Hazardous materials incident. All costs will be invoiced on a cost recovery basis, so while this is an enhanced level of service provided within Perth County, Stratford and St. Marys, there are no additional costs to the municipalities.

The new Hazardous Materials Response Contract commenced upon contract signing and will conclude on August 31, 2026.
