MEDIA RELEASE

2026 Mayor’s Budget Amendments Adopted

North Perth, April 14, 2026 – The Municipality of North Perth is advising residents that the 2026 Budget Amendment has been officially adopted following the completion of the Strong Mayor Powers legislative process under the Municipal Act, 2001.

The amendment updates the 2026 Budget to reflect finalized cost information received after the original budget approval in December 2025. These updates primarily relate to externally controlled services, including the Ontario Provincial Police contract and the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority levy.

The amendment also formalizes the removal of the Perth Meadows operating budget following the transfer of the property to United Housing. As this program was fully self-funded, its removal does not impact the municipal tax levy.

As adopted, the amendment results in an additional increase of $118,025 to the general tax levy, bringing the total levy to $23,194,694. This reflects a combined tax increase of 7.15%, or approximately $173.82 annually ($14.49 per month) for a median residential property.

The amendment also includes three capital projects: a Space Needs Assessment, a corporate Records Management system, and Council Chambers A/V system upgrades. These projects will be funded from reserves and do not impact the tax levy.

This process ensures the Municipality’s budget remains accurate and aligned with confirmed financial obligations, without introducing new services or discretionary spending.
