North Perth, ON – September 15, 2026 - With all five Perth County Information Network (PCIN) libraries calling on their patrons and community to vote, “Liberty Street” by Heather Marshall was chosen as the top 2026 PC Reads title. Staff at St Marys, Stratford, Perth East, West Perth and North Perth Public Libraries were thrilled with the results and now are calling on their communities to join in. 

“Liberty Street” is a historical fiction novel done differently! The story takes you on a journey of 1960’s harrowing local history in a women's prison. This novel appeals to not only historical fiction readers, but general fiction, non-fiction, and local historians. Heather Marshall is based out of Huron County, making her local tie-ins authentic and connecting the reader to the story with ease.

The Kin Trail Bridge Replacement project will begin on September 8, 2026, and continue through December 2026. This project addresses the urgent need to replace the deteriorating bridge structure, as identified through recent engineered assessments.

The project is funded in part through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) Grant.

During construction, the affected section of the Kin Trail will be closed to all users. Residents and visitors are asked to use alternate routes and follow posted signage throughout the construction period.

The Municipality of North Perth will be conducting pesticide spraying to control invasive Phragmites along select rural roadsides within the Elma Ward.

Patch spraying will only occur in specific areas where the invasive plant is found. Signage will be posted at locations where pesticide application is taking place to notify the public.

Representatives from the Municipality of North Perth recently participated in a series of meetings with provincial officials during the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, advocating for key priorities that support sustainable growth, infrastructure readiness, and housing development in rural Ontario.

Mayor Todd Kasenberg, CAO Kriss Snell, and Deputy CAO Sandy Little met with provincial representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Energy and Mines, and Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to discuss issues that are critical to North Perth's future and shared by many growing rural communities across the province.

Please be advised of the closure on Elizabeth St. E for bridge and conduit reconstruction starting on Monday, July 27, 2026, running until the end of November.

330 Wallace Ave N entrances can be accessed from Wallace Ave N.

Listowel Memorial Hospital, hospital parking lot and medical offices (172 - 255 Elizabeth St. E.) can only be accessed from Davidson Ave. N. There will be no thru-traffic access via the bridge.

The Municipality of North Perth is pleased to announce the launch of its first Public Art Call to Artists as part of the implementation of the North Perth Public Art Implementation Plan.

In partnership with STEPS Public Art, the Municipality is inviting professional Canadian artists and artist teams to submit their qualifications for the opportunity to design and create two permanent public artworks to be installed in the communities of Monkton and Gowanstown.
