Municipal Class Environmental Assessment

THE PROJECT:
The 2025 Servicing Master Plan for the Communities of Listowel and Atwood identified the need for additional water storage in both communities to accommodate expected growth. For Listowel, the Servicing Master Plan recommended that additional storage be located in the north part of the community. For Atwood, the Master Plan identified potential expansion opportunities at the existing facilities, in addition to a potential new facility in the north part of the community. (see attached figure). It is also recommended that additional water supply for Atwood be considered.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCREENING PROCESS: The planning for this project is following the environmental screening process set out for Schedule B activities under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) process. The purpose of the screening process is to identify potential environmental impacts associated with the project and to plan for appropriate mitigation of any impacts. The process includes consultation with the public, stakeholders, Indigenous and Métis communities, and government review agencies.

PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT:
The consultation plan for the Class EA process includes several opportunities for public input and involvement including a public information meeting.

For the initial phase of the program, public input into the planning of this study will be accepted until November 24, 2025. You may use the contact information below or go to www.Northperth.ca to provide input and ask questions. Information collected in conjunction with the Class EA will be in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record. Details related to the public meeting will be posted on the municipal website. Additional opportunities for comment will be provided as the process proceeds.
