The polls are in, and a winning title has been declared for 2026 PC Reads!

North Perth, ON – September 15, 2026 - With all five Perth County Information Network (PCIN) libraries calling on their patrons and community to vote, “Liberty Street” by Heather Marshall was chosen as the top 2026 PC Reads title. Staff at St Marys, Stratford, Perth East, West Perth and North Perth Public Libraries were thrilled with the results and now are calling on their communities to join in. 

“Liberty Street” is a historical fiction novel done differently! The story takes you on a journey of 1960’s harrowing local history in a women's prison. This novel appeals to not only historical fiction readers, but general fiction, non-fiction, and local historians. Heather Marshall is based out of Huron County, making her local tie-ins authentic and connecting the reader to the story with ease.

Starting at the end of September, programs and events themed around “Liberty Street” will begin to take place in all five communities. Every program and event is open to all of Perth County residents and is free of cost. Opportunities include going on a jail tour, attending a storytelling night, hearing from a Chatelaine expert and so much more! If you can’t make any programs or events, you can just join the rest of Perth County in reading “Liberty Street” and see what we will all be talking about! 

Perth County Reads is a one book, one community initiative where we get as many as possible reading the same book, engaging in dialogue, and attending programs or events related to the title. This is the third year, and this title is bound to be a big hit!
