How to get a bin

If you need to order garbage and recycling wheelie bins, please contact Environmental Services.

How to use your bins

  • Park it – Place your bins just off the roadway on the shoulder grass or driveway.
  • Point it – The arrow on the bin lid must point to the centre of the road.
  • Space it – Leave at least 1 meter (or an arms length) of clearance between each bin and any obstacles, such as parked cars, poles and mailboxes.
  • All material must fit in the bin and the lid must close.
  • No extra materials will be collected. Please recycle when you can!
  • Breakdown boxes and flatten your containers to allow for better fit in your bins.
  • Have your bins out by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. This will ensure they are picked up.

Recycling

Recyclable material goes in the wheelie bin with the BLUE lid.

Visit the Bluewater Recycling Website for a full list of what can go in your recycling wheelie bin, or use the interactive tool below.

Recycling depot bins

Around North Perth there are recycling depot bins set up for you to use if you have recycling that cannot fit in your wheelie bin. The bins look like blue dumpster bins. This is for RECYCLING ONLY.

Use The Bluewater Material Guide to learn more about proper disposal.

The bins are located at the following locations:

  • Steve Kerr Memorial Complex – 965 Binning Street West, Listowel, ON
  • Listowel Legion Parking Lot – 575 Elizabeth Street East, Listowel, ON
  • Listowel Public Works Yard – 580 Main Street West, Listowel, ON

  • Elma Logan Recreation Complex – 200 Nelson Street, Monkton, ON
  • Elma Landfill – 7080 Road 166, Atwood, ON

Garbage

Garbage material goes in the wheelie bin with the BLACK lid. Visit the Bluewater Recycling website to see what can and cannot go in your garbage bin.

Holidays

The only holidays that Bluewater Recycling does not pick up is Christmas Day and New Years Day. For all other holidays, pickup will be as usual.

  • Listowel Ward - Tuesday, November 15, 2022
  • Hamlets of Wallace and Elma Wards - Wendesday, November 16, 2022
