Asset Management
Asset Management in North Perth
We all rely on North Perth’s roads, water, and other services every day. Asset management is how we make sure those services stay safe and reliable for today and for future generations. On this page, learn what asset management means for our community and how it benefits you as a resident.
What is Asset Management?
Asset management is how North Perth strategically plans, maintains, and invests in public infrastructure – like roads, water systems, and community buildings. The goal is to provide reliable, cost-effective services for residents today and into the future.
Why it Matters to You
Why should you care about asset management? Because it directly benefits you and the community in many ways:
- Keeps infrastructure safe and sustainable.
- Helps extend the life of public assets.
- Supports smart decisions on repairs and upgrades.
- Maintains service quality without breaking the budget.
- Ensures long-term financial health for the community.
All these advantages mean you can count on safe, reliable roads, water, and other services – not just now, but for years to come.
North Perth's Infrastructure at a Glance

How we’re Planning for the Future
North Perth takes a forward-looking approach to caring for our infrastructure. We have an official Asset Management Plan – updated in 2025 – that looks ahead 10 years (2025–2034) to map out maintenance and upgrades for our roads, bridges, pipes, and facilities. By planning ahead, we can schedule repairs and replacements at the right times and budget for them gradually, so that we avoid sudden failures or surprise costs down the road. This 10-year plan acts as a roadmap to help the Municipality decide which projects to do first, keeping critical services reliable without unexpected budget spikes.
Strategic Asset Management Policy
We also follow a Strategic Asset Management Policy that guides how we make these decisions. This policy makes sure that taking care of assets is built into our budgeting and planning process . In other words, we align our infrastructure plans with the annual budget and other community plans, so that maintenance and upgrades are funded and timed properly. The policy even considers future challenges – for example, we factor in the potential impacts of climate change and look for opportunities to coordinate with neighboring municipalities on shared infrastructure needs.
Our goal is to keep North Perth’s overall infrastructure in “Good” condition long-term, while balancing needed investments with affordable taxes and utility rates for our residents.
