Tile Drainage Loans

The Tile Drainage Loan Program provides loans to property owners in the farmland tax class. The Tile Drainage Act authorizes the tile drainage loan.

What is tile drainage?

Tile drainage is a land improvement practice among farmers. Corrugated plastic tubing, and clay and concrete drain tile are installed beneath the surface of agricultural land to drain excess water from the crop root zone.

What factors should I consider before applying for a loan?

If you can answer yes to all the questions below, consider installing tile drainage:

  • Is there a drainage problem on my agricultural land?
  • Will the soil on my land respond to tile drainage?
  • Is there a ditch or tile where my drainage system can be discharged that I may legally use?

How can I apply for a loan?

To apply, fill out the following forms:

Once complete, please return to the Municipal Office.

What are the terms of the loan?

  • All loans have a 10-year term and are repaid in your final two property tax installments each year
  • The current interest rate is 6%
  • Landowners are eligible for a loan of 75% of the cost of the drainage work, up to $50,000
  • The loan can be repaid in full at any time
