North Perth, April 14, 2026 – The Municipality of North Perth is advising residents that the 2026 Budget Amendment has been officially adopted following the completion of the Strong Mayor Powers legislative process under the Municipal Act, 2001.

The amendment updates the 2026 Budget to reflect finalized cost information received after the original budget approval in December 2025. These updates primarily relate to externally controlled services, including the Ontario Provincial Police contract and the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority levy.

The Municipality of North Perth is developing a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP) to guide the future of parks, facilities, programs, and services across the community. This plan will help ensure that North Perth continues to meet residents' evolving recreational needs while planning for future growth.

TAKE NOTICE a statutory public meeting is taking place to discuss a proposed Amendment Zoning By-law affecting the property described above. The application was deemed complete on February 10, 2025 pursuant to Section 34 (10.4) of the Planning Act in accordance with the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. O. Reg. 545/06 s. 5

Purpose and Effect: The application proposes to rezone the subject lands to permit an accessory structure in the front yard where the North Perth Zoning By-law prohibits accessory structures in the Front Yard (Section 5.1.3. a).  The site-specific zoning will facilitate the construction of a 981 m² accessory structure to store product (plastic recyclables) for the business to pelletize at a later date.

The application was deemed complete on February 25, 2025 pursuant to Section 34 (10.4) of the Planning Act in accordance with the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. O. Reg. 545/06 s. 5

Purpose and Effect: The application proposes to rezone the subject lands from Agriculture (A) to Special Agriculture (A-87) to permit the construction of a secondary farm occupation building of up to 600 m² (6,458 ft²).  The site-specific zone will allow the owner to operate a wood drying kiln for forestry products.

After over 20 years, the Listowel Branch of the North Perth Public Library (NPPL) is getting a much-needed refresh! Say hello to a lighter and brighter space!

Starting April 27 to May 8, local maintenance crews will be occupying the NPPL space to begin the rejuvenation process. This is the last and largest step of the North Perth Public Library’s branch refresh project starting in 2023. While the historical Carnegie portion will remain untouched, the addition built in the early 2000’s, is being brightened to improve visibility, create a more welcoming space and align with the library’s brand. Crews will be painting all walls of the 5500+ square foot space.

Council considered all written and oral submissions received on this application, the effect of which helped Council to make an informed decision.
